Today was a very special day; baby Lucy was blessed today! For those unfamiliar, a baby blessing is an LDS ordinance, along the same lines as a christening. While the LDS church does not baptize babies, we do formally give them a name and a special blessing before the church. This ordinance is usually performed by fathers who hold the priesthood. I've been very blessed to have married such a wonderful priesthood holder who has given names and blessings to all three of our children.
Thankfully, Lucy did not scream through her blessing (we're 3 for 3 on that one!) and Peter was able to give her a very beautiful blessing. I love that Peter is such a dedicated and thoughtful father; he took the time beforehand to really ponder and write down what he wanted to bless his daughter with, and then followed the promptings of the Spirit. Among other things, Lucy was blessed to be healthy and active, patient and humble, independent and willing to act, not be acted upon. I know that Lucy is a very unique and wonderful daughter of God; I can't wait to see all she can become!
please ignore the awkward barbie in the background.
Reality check: Jude refused to be in the picture without Grandpa. I'm super sad that I didn't get a good family photo like I did with the other kids, but oh well.
A big thank you to everyone who came to be with us on this special day! We were so happy to share it with you!
