It was just for my family, but still. Big deal for me. I didn't realize how stressed I was subconsciously about it until the week of. When I'm stressed but refuse to actually acknowledge it, I wake up all night long when I sleep. By the end of the weekend I must have been so behind on sleep that I slept from 7pm-7am on Sunday night!
We had the traditional (and basic) Thanksgiving dinner. I was pretty proud of my pecan pie, in particular.
Peter and I also ran in the local turkey trot on Thanksgiving morning. It was my first road race and I was very excited to run my first 10k. That's the furthest I've ever run! A couple months ago my friend convinced me to run a half marathon with her in January, so I've been slowly training for that. I'm glad I got at least one real race under my belt before the big one. We finished in just over and hour; I know that's nothing to brag about but it was faster than I thought I could go!
We spent the rest of the weekend shopping, eating, and just hanging around together. I'm really glad my family could come to us this year and we got to start new Danville traditions.
(I think this is one of my favorite pictures on them; it's just so cute and funny)
And I can't write about gratitude without including how grateful I am for my Savior, Jesus Christ. He is my rock in the storm, my example, and my peace in the midst of turmoil. I am continually reminded of how His atonement has blessed my life in immeasurable ways. I look forward to the Christmas season so I can celebrate the birth of our Redeemer and hopefully share His love with others.
