Arts & Crafts

One more week left in Boise! This summer has been wonderful and we're sad to leave, but also so excited to move back to Provo (I never, ever thought I would say those words...). I'm so excited to start fall semester and get closer to NOT being pregnant.

For me at home this summer hasn't been the most eventful because I sit on the couch all day. So I decided to take up some hobbies to try and fill the time. My first idea was to grow a garden in pots on the balcony. It worked fine...until 4th of July weekend when the heat killed the plants while we were in CA. So sad. All that's left is dirt.
So I then decided to take up sewing! Peter and I bought a really old Kenmore sewing machine from the thrift store for only $10. It took me forever to figure out how to thread the machine and I can't sew much more than some straight lines, but I think my skills have improved! I am now hooked on crafting! I've been surfing lots of those "craft mom" blogs and I've gotten a lot of good ideas; I can't wait for the fall so I can make all my awesome Halloween/Thanksgiving/Christmas decor!

Here are my summer creations:

My first baby blanket! Too bad I made a few silly mistakes... the blanket isn't exactly symmetrical...

Some different types of headbands. The purple and yellow ones are cute, but I need to improve my pattern for making them since I just made it up.

Soft blocks for the baby! They even have a little jingle bell inside. I'm pretty proud of these.

I also made a pillow cover, but it sadly recently ripped open.

Maybe this is part of my nesting instinct, or I'm totally turning into Susie Homemaker. I need to get back to Provo for some social interaction soon!!!
