Spring break in Utah

We took a road trip to Utah to visit Peter's family and see Grandpa and Grandpa "see see" who live in Africa. It's always wonderful to get to visit with them since they only come to the US 3 times a year and have such a busy schedule.

Our road trip got off to a bit of a rocky start. I was incredibly sick all week and just felt miserable when we were supposed to leave early Saturday morning. I decided to go to the urgent care to make sure I didn't have an ear infection (turns out I didn't, but it seriously felt like it!), which derailed our takeoff time. We decided to stop halfway in Elko, NV, which was a good choice.

One of our many, many stops on the road. Thanks to traffic and Jude apparently chugging water in the back, we had to make like 5 stops and it took 10 hours just to get to Elko.

Pulled off to feed the baby and the kids got to touch snow for the first time near Donner Pass! Wasn't as fun as it looked... Jude slipped and skidded down a very packed down icy hill.

How we travel in our too small car: car top carrier and stuff all over the place.

We stayed the night in Elko and decided to go to a local church instead of trying to race to Utah in time for church with the rest of the family. I was a little disappointed at first since I love Easter Sunday, but the ward had a great Spirit and I definitely felt my testimony of our Savior grow!

I can't write about Easter without saying how grateful I am for Jesus Christ and His atonement and resurrection. Because of Him, I know that families are eternal and that there are always second chances, each and every day. I don't think I will ever be able to adequately put into words what our Savior means to me and what joys I feel when I contemplate the majesty of His love, forgiveness, and peace.

The Easter bunny ding-dong ditched us at the hotel after church. Pinterest worthy? Certainly not, but that's how we roll!

We finally made it to Utah and Grandma got to meet Lucy!!

Utah was cold. SO cold. I'm a true Californian who can't take 40 degree weather.

Playing in snow for the first time and actually loving it!

At the Dinosaur Museum with cousins:

matching braids and matching pink. these two cuties kill me.

Special Family Home Evening with Grandma and Grandpa:

Jude gets to conduct the music, his favorite job.

After dinner with Uncle Jason in downtown SLC.

We walked around the new Provo City Center temple! It's such a beautiful building!! I wish we could have gone inside.

It's crazy to think that when we left Provo this was a charred out shell from a recent fire!

Hanging with Uncle Eric in Provo!

At the Hogle Zoo. The whole time I kept thinking "it's too darn cold here, but oh my gosh was it cheap to get in the zoo!"

We went to Peter's cousin's wedding on Friday. Too bad our children were way too grumpy to last even an hour into the reception. But it sure was a pretty view!

General Conference! The first time I got to sit up front and hang out at the church office building after.

Don't mind the terrible picture. We tried dozens of times but the lighting is pretty bad down there.

Saying goodbye to Grandma after a fun week! We'll miss you in Africa and can't wait for the reunion in July!! <3
