Easter Weekend Getaway

Ah! I totally forgot to post about Easter! Happy super belated Easter everyone!

I decided to take the kids down to my parents' house for a long weekend. I love going to grandma's; it's the closest I'll ever get to a vacation. Jude seriously ignores me (or physically pushes me away when I come too close) at Grandma's house. Ellie is still too little to completely drop me, but she does love to play with her doting grandparents and Aunt. Plus, my parents' house overfloweth with junk food and sugary cereals, foods I never buy at my own home. Also, they have cable, i.e. HGTV alldaylongalways.

So I braved the long car trip by myself, since Peter had to stay home to work. It actually wasn't that bad. I just timed it around Ellie's naps and we stopped in the middle at San Luis Obispo to go to the children's museum and get our wiggles out. (Side note: downtown SLO is a weird hipster-meets-really-rich-people kind of place. Kinda strange.) Once we got to Thousand Oaks, we hung out with Ga Ga, Papa, Aunt Ziz, and Jack the puppy dog. Luckily, we all got along with Jack the crazy; even Eleanor loved him.

On Easter, I actually managed to take some pictures of the kiddos in their Easter best. I even hung up the Easter banner I made to make a kind of photo shoot. I felt so fancy, like a totally pro pinterest mom. My pictures, of course, are far from pinterest worthy, but they're cute! As usual, I took about 100 pictures and only a handful are somewhat passable.

We also had an egg hunt for Jude in the front yard. He loved finding the eggs, and after each one, yelled "MORE! MORE!"

Jude gives Eleanor a "squeeze"

He goes in for the kiss

Jack the dog always has to come say hi

I most definitely bribed him with candy for this.

And of course, I made a bunny cake. Which looks pretty terrible, I know. We didn't have any coconut so all the messy frosting got exposed. Oh well; tasted great.

I hope you had a wonderful Easter! I am so grateful for our Savior, Jesus Christ, who rose from the tomb on that first Easter morning. I know with all my heart that because of Him, I can try again. I continually become a new, better person through Christ's atonement, His love, and His mercy. I will be forever grateful that His atoning sacrifice has given me so much; even more than I will ever deserve. I know that just as Christ was raised from the dead, so will we all. Because of Him, death is not the end and the grave has no victory over us. Our loved ones that have passed on can still be ours for eternity because of the resurrection. I will forever join in praising our Lord because of this amazing gift!
