10 things about Jude

Here's a little list of some things about Jude lately. I saw this idea on my sister in law Heather's blog, and I thought it was a great idea to remember all those little things! (Thanks for the idea, Heather.)

1. Jude's favorite color is pink, or as he says "gink!" I didn't even know he knew any colors until the other day in Ikea. We were buying some new tubs for the kids' room and I grabbed a white one, when Jude started yelling "gink! gink!" I had no idea what he was talking about, until I saw him point to the pink tubs right behind me. Apparently he really wanted pink so we got that instead. Now he wants almost everything in pink. I bought some snack bowls yesterday that came in a pack of yellow and pink. Jude told me he gets the pink one, and baby gets yellow.

2. Jude is obsessed with the girl next door. For real. Our neighbors also have a toddler, and she and Jude are quite a duo. Whenever we go outside, Jude goes to her door and asks her to come out and play. They love to copy each other, and even egg each other on sometimes, whether it's screaming at the top of their lungs, shaking the fence, or sitting together and stomping their feet.

3. Jude's vocabulary has exploded lately. He even parrots back most words. It's exciting to have him say so much, but some of his words are still unclear. Saying "wedge" and pointing to the microwave? No clue.

4. He has two new favorite movies: "A Bug's Life" (which he calls "zzzes") and "Lilo and Stitch" (which he calls "doggy").

5. Breastfeeding is very fascinating to Jude. When Ellie was a newborn, he ran over when I fed her, pointing and yelling "UH OH! UH OH!" After I explained what was happening, he started pointing to my chest, saying "wa wa! foo foo!" (milk, food). He does this frequently actually, especially in public. Eleanor has this tummy time pillow that looks a lot like a small boppy nursing pillow. Jude likes to take it and put it on his lap to "feed" to his toys. The other day I found him pulling up his shirt and trying to nurse Ellie's hanging toys.

6. Jude's really into keys lately. He has an old set of ours that he loves to carry around in his backpack. He tries to put them into his push car to make it start. The other day when we were playing outside he kept trying to use them to lock our door.

7. He's becoming a back seat driver. He yells "STOP!" at the red rights, and "geen! GO!" when it changes. He also says "UP! UP!" when he sees a hill ahead and then "down down!" Sometimes he points out stop signs. When we accelerate onto the freeway, he screams "WOOOOOSH!" Mostly, he tells me to go "Seow! Seow!" (slow).

8. Every day I ask Jude what he wants to do today. And every day he says "WALKY! CHOO CHOO!" That's all he ever wants to do. At the end of the day, when Peter asks him what he did he always says "walky," even if we didn't actually go on a walk that day.

9. The kid's got a side arm. And he's pretty darn accurate. Jude's actually kinda good at throwing and catching the ball. Makes me excited for future t-ball!

10. Jude loves his "baby sis." He talks about her all day and lays down to play with her (which usually means taking her toys). He loves to kiss her and often demands "HUG" from her. And Ellie adores him right back. She loves to watch him, smiling at him as he walks around the room, and absolutely beams when he sits down near her.
