Little Miss Ellie

When I had Jude, we were college students with little money and even less time. Sadly, I wrote very little about Jude as a baby, thinking I would just remember, because hey, it's my baby! Yeah, nope. Now with Ellie I keep trying to remember if Jude did this or that, or when he reached different milestones. So I'm repenting and working to write down more about our little girl so I won't forget. (Sorry Jude.)

I do remember that Jude loved to look around, like all the time. He was always looking around so he could get a good view of what was happening. He would just sit there and stare, trying to figure it all out. As he got older I could definitely see that personality come out in him. Jude always wants to figure things out, how they work, and what he can do with them. He's a mini-Peter, what do you expect?

Ellie is similar, but different. She also loves to look around, but she loves to look at people. She doesn't seem as focused on trying to figure things out, she just loves people. She will follow you around the room, even people she doesn't know. Ellie LOVES to SMILE. Seriously, she smiles at everyone who comes to talk to her.

She loves to lay on the floor and grab her toes. She'll lay in her gym, grab her toys, and curl her body around them. She giggles and squeaks to her toes.

Ellie is strong, too. She will basically do a sit-up on your lap. While you hold her, she likes to lean as far forward as she can and fail her limbs, like she's trying to get up and move. Oddly though, she startles very easily. It's actually pretty funny! Sometimes if I walk by too fast or even talk, her whole body jumps in surprise.

Eleanor loves to suck on her hands. She also loves to hold and suck on toys, something Jude didn't do till he was a few month older than her. Also, Ellie loves to blow raspberries, which Jude never did. She often falls asleep just laying in her rock n play, which is amazing.

Other big news: Eleanor learned to roll over! Love that she's getting more mobile! She does that baby thing were she rolls over, gets stuck on her stomach, and becomes hysterical. So we roll her back over, and immediately back she goes! Sometimes she even log-rolls across the room.

I have noticed there is one big downside to this stage. While Ellie is starting to be a little mobile and fun...she really doesn't do anything yet. She's in this phase were she wants your attention, but you can't really play with her yet and she just kinda sits there. It can get frustrating for me because she cries for attention but I have no clue what to do with her other than just hold her (which can be a huge barrier to getting things done). I guess my dad is right; they're pretty useless till 6 months (haha).

But, we love our little Eleanor; she has such a bright and happy personality! Her smile makes our day every time.
