Jude is a strange child.
Most kids say mama and dada as their first words. I think he said mama once, in a moment of great distress. And he will say dada but not in any association with Peter. Instead, Jude says "fshhh" and "outsi."
Actually, Jude seems to really like the "s" sound. Most of the sounds he makes are some form of the s sound. He picks up his shoes or socks and says "ssss" (at least he gets the first letter!) His general filler, nonsense words are "uss" and "oossa." I think he may actually be trying to say "lights" sometimes, but it comes out as "itesss."
Jude seems to say "uss" about the Christmas tree in particular. Maybe he's saying Christmas, emphasis on the masssss? He's obsessed with the tree. The first thing he does when he comes into the living room after a nap or an errand is run to the tree and say "uss! uss!" and waits for me to turn on the tree lights. Whenever I say Christmas tree he immediately looks or goes to the tree. Clearly he understands!
I just think it's so funny that he loves the s sound so much. It seems to be the only part of words he picks up!
On a very unrelated note, I've become ridiculously addicted to Christmas candy. Seriously, it needs to stop being on sale. And with coupons it's basically free... I may have reached my post-pregnancy weight goal recently, but I think that will be very short-lived...
