The Engaging Story

Peter asked me to marry him on January 23, 2010. We had come down to California to attend my Grandma Langlois' funeral. (I know getting engaged during a funeral weekend might seem weird, but it really wasn't at all. My Grandma's passing wasn't so much a sad event as a "we are really glad she can stop suffering and go see Grandpa again" kind of weekend. My family was all actually really supportive. My Aunt told me how happy our engagement must have made Grandma.)

So on Saturday morning I went with the Hamilton family out to Irvine to see the newborn baby Eve Rose, Matt and Belize's little girl. It was really exciting to hold such a cute little newborn! I remember she had the bluest eyes and just looked so happy to be on earth.

After the excursion to the OC, Peter took me on a nice date. He took me back to the place we had our first date, Pt. Dune. Once again we climbed the point and sat out looking at the ocean. I could tell something was up because Peter wanted to sit and talk all about our relationship. At this point I started to get giggly and nervous because I thought it might be coming, but at the same time didn't want to get my hopes up just in case Peter was just feeling nostalgic. He then asked me to stand up and give him a hug, when he popped down on one knee, pulled out the ring and proposed!

Of course I said yes! He took some pretty goofy pictures of me, the wind blowing my hair all around and I just have this ridiculous grin on my face. After we climbed back down the hill we went to eat a celebratory dinner at Duke's Restaurant in Malibu. It was a fun meal; we even had some Hawaiian singers come sing us a song (after they announced to the entire restaurant that we had just gotten engaged). Then of course we went home and told everyone. It was an amazing night!
