Lucy: 5 months

Alright, I actually have some things to write about this month!

Lucy now definitely rolls over! And over. And over. And over. She does that thing where you put her down in one place and find her in a completely different one 3 minutes later. She also gets stuck on her stomach sometimes and then screams until you come and flip her back over... and then immediately goes back to her stomach. This is my least favorite baby game ever.

We moved Lucy out of her rock n play and into her "big girl crib" in her own room! Yay for mom and dad space! Along with that, we also started sleep training her. Sleep training can be worst; nothing hurts a mom more than listening to her baby cry. But after seeing the amazing results with my other two kids, I'm a firm believer and it's working out good so far! It took her a few days to figure it out, but now she's back to sleeping through the night, about 7pm-7am. It's glorious! Her nap schedule is still a little wonky, especially with the other kids' schedules making demands, but I'm confident it'll smooth itself out, just like the others.

Lucy LOVES her big brother Jude! Whenever he comes over to her, she lights up with excitement. Jude can get the biggest laughs out of Lucy, too. The other night I was bathing the older kids with Lucy on my lap and Jude was telling half-baked jokes and laughing at himself; Lucy thought the jokes were hilarious too and laughed hysterically at each "punchline."

Lucy does not like to be left on the ground for very long. It's hard to get things done when I spend so much time just holding her. I remember my other kids doing the same thing; at least they all sleep amazing!

Lucy loves her toys. She's starting to grasp at them and hold onto her hanging toys; it's super cute and makes me anxious for the next stage.

Little girl loves people. She will watch others around her with intensity and follow them around the room. She smiles and wiggles when others come talk to her. She's a very social baby!

All my kids have been total "mama kids," but Lucy is starting the nonsense especially early. Lucy absolutely adores her Dad and loves to watch him... but only from the safety of mom's arms. No joke. When Peter tries to hold her, she usually screams and cries until I come "rescue" her. I love that my babies love me... but seriously I could use a little break sometimes from the lovefest.

Lucy really is a little ray of sunshine and we're so happy she's a part of our family! I'm excited for what the next few months will bring. Although, I'm not excited for the first time she tries to eat a lego... I swear Jude and Ellie better listen up and get their toy clean up act together soon! But I guess that's a problem for future Linda...

  1. I am so glad you do these posts! I love that I can look at them over and over! I miss those cute kids. It reminds me of way back being a mom like you. You do a much better job, but it is the hardest work anyone could ever do. You are worth more than the richest person on earth! And no amount of money can ever pay for what you do. You have beautiful children who absolutely love you and a great husband who takes good care of his family (and his mom)!
