New family mottos

I think I'm going to adopt two new mottos for our family. Just two phrases that I say all. the. time. All the time!

1. "You can do hard things."
2. "Just. Stay. Calm."

My children are the biggest complainers about anything being "hard." And they're only 2 and (almost) 4. It's not like I'm asking them to do more than put on their own shoes or pick up their toys. But still, most requests are met with "It's too hard," by both Jude AND Ellie. My constant reply: You can do hard things!! Sometimes it convinces them to do it, other times more whining.

My children are pretty even tempered most of the time. But then something they don't expect will happen and they'll suddenly go from 0 to total meltdown. I've found myself saying over and over again all day, "Just stay calm!" I can't figure out why everything lately causes them to just panic.

But I guess that's just toddlers. Can't wait to add another one to the crazy mix.
