Judeisms

Jude is a funny kid. He has a lot of personality, as they say. Or in other words, he's passionate and a little crazy.

I've written before about Jude's "language," which consists of made up words and hand signals that I somehow can interpret. Here's a little dictionary definition of some of his new favorite words:

"ah din": all done. usually yelled when he wants something to be finished that is not, like feeding Ellie
"coo coo": cookie (he adds an "e" sound to almost everything else, so I have no idea why he doesn't just say cookie).  also a name for treats in general, including trail mix
"touchy": touch. usually used as a precursor to him touching something I just told him not to
"choich": church (anytime we go somewhere he asks if we are going to church)
"chheeeeee": the sound of steam coming from a train. MUST be said AND listened to every time he mentions trains or else
"foo foo": food. also used in reference to my chest when I nurse Ellie, usually in a loud voice while in public
::slamming his fists together and apart rapidly:: open and close, usually doors
"a hol": a hole; also a tunnel, freeway overpass, or bridge
"kark": dark; must be screamed when talking about the moon or stars. also when it's time to turn off the lights for bedtime
"ooon": the moon; must be pointed out anytime it can be seen, especially during the day
"star": stars; see moon.
"haphap": bunny; must be mentioned when we talk about walks or trains
"walky": a walk; must happen everyday
::rapidly wagging finger:: something I've told him never to do. must be done when looking at train tracks (as in, we never go on the tracks) or when jumping on the bed
"stoo": stool. if mom is sitting in the chair feeding Ellie then it must be brought out to stand right in front of her and demand to be pushed off with her feet (game invented by Peter, who else...)
"dumpp": dump. said while pouring out something, like cereal or toys
"boo": a movie, could be Monsters Inc, Monsters University, Despicable Me 1 or 2. Good luck figuring it out.
"upp": up. could be referring to the pixar movie, or throwing a ball. Or a train...? (not sure where the last one came from)
''papa": grandpa, favorite person ever
"gaga": grandma, other favorite person ever
"ziz": aunt Lizzy, a close 3rd
"ce ce": horses, usually in reference to grandpa Hamilton
::rubbing eye while saying ehhh:: sleepy or tired. usually in reference to grandparents Hamilton, who are apparently always sleeping in Africa
"jeez": Jesus. baby Jesus from the nativity set is very popular these days
"cock": clock. and something else mom doesn't understand but really wishes wouldn't be yelled in public
"zzzzzzz": bees, or any bug. usually accompanied by an UH OH
::opening and closing pointer finger & thumb:: several different animals: crabs, frogs (???), sharks
"too": any number greater than one; also, a binkie, or wanting mom to do something she just did with Ellie with Jude as well
"HEEEE": Christmas tree; must be yelled
"cheez": cheese; must be said in high-pitched voice. all meals, in particular lunch, are cheese
I think the funniest thing that Jude does recently is his need to take his trains with him. Everywhere. He has a little metal "boo" lunchbox that he throws all his trains in and carries with him wherever we go. This must be brought every time and EVERY train must come; one or two will not suffice. Jude's very protective of this little box, and it cracks me up every time, even if it means extra luggage wherever we go.

  1. I love all of his words! What a great record of him learning to speak. I wish I would of done this with Peter. All I remember with Peter is that he said nothing for a long long time and then he spoke in paragraphs.
