New Year

Happy New Year!!
I hope the start to your new year was awesome! Ours was less than thrilling... we got super sick. Peter and I have spent the last 5 days basically incapacitated on the couch while Jude tore apart the entire house. At least he kept himself entertained... We didn't even have the energy to make food most days so Jude ate a lot of crackers and we called it dinner. He also figured out how to take everything out of our still-packed vacation bags and throw them under the couch. Oh and at one point he stole a box of Christmas candy and ate about 10 pieces before I realized what was happening.
Boy, we're off to great start parenting this year!

At least I finally got the Christmas decorations down.

But anyways, new year means new resolutions! My dad always taught me that a goal not written down is just a wish, so I am writing some of mine down and sharing :)

1. Make dinner every night. Seriously, I feel like I never make dinner anymore. I can never think of what to make and Jude is always a handful around dinnertime. This year, more planning beforehand and less quesadillas. Oh, and do the dishes after too.

2. Watch less TV. I got addicted to TV when I was nursing Jude and I've been meaning to kick the habit. I don't think any human needs to watch the amount of TLC that I currently do. Plus, Jude is starting to be really cognizant of what is happening on the TV and I don't need him repeating Michael Scott. My goal is to only watch during naptime. Exception: Sesame Street for Jude. He LOVES Elmo.

3. Eat less sweets. I was doing really well last summer but then Halloween happened, and Thanksgiving... and Christmas... Time to get back in the habit of eating healthy! My goal: Only one treat a day and only if I had some physical exercise that day.

4. Go on more dates. With my husband, obviously. I miss our weekly date night since Jude was born! It's a great way to connect and have a happy marriage. So first goal: find a babysitter, then second: go on more dates!

5. Take a family vacation. Pretty much every trip or vacation we've had since we got married has been a family get-together or a family holiday. I want to go on a real vacation this year with Peter and Jude. I'm thinking East Coast!

Peter's goal this year apparently is to watch the entirety of the show "Lost," so our new year has also been extremely confusing and I have a lot of dreams about islands.

So there you go. Not the most original or exciting goals, but I'm glad I wrote them down. Good luck with all of yours!

  1. Like the arm chairs. I would sit in the yellow one. Great goals. Got me thinking to put some on my blog too!
